The Apostle Paul spent a lot of time having to defend his own calling and ministry against false teachers that had already infiltrated the Church, especially at Corinth....many charismatics and confused people will use the 2 letters to the Corinthians as pretext and guide to "speaking in tongues" when it is clear that Paul is condemning the "unknown tongue" to a Church that is extremely carnal....for anyone who is listening, do you really want to take advice from a Church that has a man messing around with his mother in plain sight and is accepted?? I would hope not....this corinthian church had a LOT of problems....but there were also true Christian brothers and sisters in there with nowhere else to go....so Paul is preaching to them....encouraging them....reminding them that there are no obstacles that we cannot overcome in the Name of Jesus Christ....if leadership in Church is corrupt, it needs to be confronted....that is not an easy thing to do especially if the majority of the Church is like minded.......But the Lord wants His Church to be as free from error as possible.....Just as He wants our lives to be as free from error as possible....the above passage reminds us that the very strong hold that might be seemingly holding us back in some area of life was allowed there by God.....and with His help we can get through it! We need to arm ourselves with the Word and knowledge of God.....keep our thoughts captive to Jesus Christ!
When a Church becomes divided, if it stays divided due to poor leadership, it will eventually close....A nation divided, just as ours is now, cannot stay so divided or we will never survive either.....It seems strange to think there is a faction of people who seemingly want our nation to fail have somehow gained political power? Until you realize there has always been a faction that has wanted the Church to fail....the culprits in either scenario come from the same bitter fountain... Let's pray for our Churches and pray for our nation as well! God bless you all this Friday Pastor Scott
