2 Corinthians 4:1–10(KJV 1900) — 1Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not; 2But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.7But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; 10Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.
The Lord in our hearts is a treasure the Bible says….you have things in your life that you treasure….. if I had to pick one earthly thing I treasure I guess I’d say it’d be a tossup between the stamp collection I have from my Dad and…..and my Grandma Williams' anniversary clock.. But those are earthly treasures….this treasure the Bible speaks of lasts forever and ever! The verse says that We have this treasure in earthen vessels….that’s what we are….we are earthen vessels…. Now just so we understand, Paul is using a word here which would signify a clay pot….they can store anthing…..but they were also used as bedpans so to speak This is what most scholars believe he had in view here…..in other words, the Bible is saying we have this treasure in waste holders! So Without God all we are good for is holding waste …. That is a disgusting thought but when you watch the news you see a lot of people that are without God and that’s about all they are good for…. But if you add that treasure, we can be beautiful on the inside and out.....look at verses 8 through 10....we can go through anything if we hold dear the Treasure of our Lord, shining forth in our hearts AMEN! Listen to what Jesus says in the sermon on the mount: Matthew 6:19–21(KJV 1900) — 19Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: 20But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: 21For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. So the question now becomes, what is your treasure? Do we understand if we don't treasure our relationship with our Creator above all things, we'll never find true joy or contentment in life? You ever notice Godless people are angry people? They've rejected the treasure their Creator has provided in salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord! I hope you all have a blessed day today!
