The Word (became flesh)

John 1:1–2  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
John 1:14  And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

The Greek word for Word here is Logos....it makes for a very interesting word study [no pun intended].....when Erastus translated the Bible into Latin, he struggled with exactly how to translate it.....the word Logos itself could be debated among the Greek scholars, but they would all agree that the word Logos had authority and power behind it.....John wanted everyone to be absolutely sure that the only entity that could claim Logos would be Jesus Christ......kind of a funny story about history in that skeptics wanted to doubt the Gospel of John because they couldn't find manuscripts old enough to really claim that this Gospel wasn't spurious in their minds....they would say it was made up....the reason why skeptics wanted to debunk this Gospel is because all the way through it, Jesus Christ is presented as Deity....the Logos [Jesus] was God.....the same was in the beginning with God.....this Gospel proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Christ is Deity....But the skeptics held out hope in that their view was correct....until that fateful day in 1947 when a young shepherd was tending his goats along the Dead sea and one of them rambled up a little hill into a cave....the young man threw rocks at it trying to get it to come back, and he heard a strange noise like a jar breaking.....sure enough, upon his discovery, there were jars of clay in that cave and one of them contained manuscripts.....one of those manuscripts was the Gospel of John complete and dated around 30AD.....well no longer can skeptics make the claim that this Gospel is spurious.....my friends, Jesus Christ is the Logos....He has been from the beginning, and will continue to be until the end of eternity! We don't need to read Plato or Marx or any other earthly mans writings to know about life....we have the One who created life and He tells us all we need to know from the Word of God!!
