Losing My Religion?

8/19/2019

I read last week where a prominent "worship leader" from the Hillsong music movement lost his faith.....His name is Marty Sampson and he has been writing songs and leading "worship" for 20 years at Hillsong [whatever and wherever that means and is]....here is part of his quote on social media:

"This is a soapbox moment so here I go … How many preachers fall? Many. No one talks about it. How many miracles happen. Not many. No one talks about it. Why is the Bible full of contradictions? No one talks about it. How can God be love yet send four billion people to a place, all ‘coz they don’t believe? No one talks about it. Christians can be the most judgmental people on the planet—they can also be some of the most beautiful and loving people. But it’s not for me."--Marty Sampson

So many different thoughts come to my own mind....first of all, we all knew that the emerging mega church movement would fail...Jesus said so in Matthew 7....I am only surprised it has lasted this long....Just google search the "founder" of the mega Church movement [Bill Hybels] and you'll see the sorry state he found himself in.....secondly, this guy is a leader in "worship"??....what exactly is worship supposed to do?? By definition worship will Draw you closer to God.....evidently this man isn't closer to God....and so now after 20 years he is "losing his faith" --we now know that he could NOT have been leading actual worship of the true God, so my question is, what in the world has he been doing to these people for 20 years? If he is the worship leader and he isn't getting closer to the Living God, I KNOW his congregation isn't either.....I already know what goes on in these churches as I've been in one [1 time] and study the movement....it's all about entertainment....you see, the modern mega "church" leaders have carried on the traditions of the Dr. Fosdicks of the world in which they feel as though God needs help.....first we need to apologize for God seeming so mean in the Bible [in other words don't even bother learning the Bible], and then we need to give the poor seekers what they are seeking for......and that ends up being a combination of psychology and entertainment.....strange as this seems, it's as if they think the Gospel isn't good enough....

Well I have news for you all....the Gospel isn't good enough and never will be good enough for the world [the world being those who reject the Lord Jesus Christ]

but without the message of the Gospel [we are sinners in need of a Savior, and God provided us all we need in Christ Jesus] there is no true salvation.....the Bible says:

Romans 1:16(KJV 1900) — 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

You notice the things Mr. Sampson speaks above and says, "no one talks about it"....really?? Makes you wonder what they do talk about at that Church! I also wonder....has he ever actually read a Bible?? All those issues are in there and we talk about them every week at some point.....but in a Church heavy on entertainment and light on the Word of God, we can expect no one talks about it--the sad reality is that I'm sure a large percentage of the people in those churches probably read his rant and agreed with every word

The Bible has contradictions?? That's a new one on me! You know as well as I that if there were any contradictions, the Bible would have been out of publication a thousand years ago! The only "contradictions" would be in interpretation.....let me explain to you interpretation.....2 people can look at a half full glass of water and you guessed it....one would say it's half full and the other say it's half empty....same glass, 2 interpretations....only people who are hostile to the truths in the Bible would say there are contradictions....

Many preachers fail....no one talks about it?? Ever heard of Jimmy Swaggert and Jim Baker?? Yea the world loves it when a preacher goes bad

No miracles?? You ever wonder how a baby can live in water for 9 months??? what is your definition of a miracle?? A man like Isaac Watts can be a drunkard and such a shape that only his Mom could stand him, and one day, the Lord changed him forever! And he wrote hymns, most famously "Amazing Grace".....again what is your definition of a miracle?? The Bible says the Lord adds daily to His Church such that should be saved.....each and every soul that comes to salvation through Jesus Christ is a miracle!

and of course the age old question [that I promise you has been talked about plenty, just not in churches heavy on rock concerts]-- "how could a loving God send people to hell?"....here Mr. Sampson, I AM GOING TO TALK ABOUT IT!! READY?? He won't

That's right I said it, He won't

Revelation 20:11–15(KJV 1900) — 11And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

You see there is this Book of life,  something we talk about a lot in our Church.....your name is either in there or it is not....God won't send them to hell.....people send themselves there.....they reject the Gospel....they reject Jesus Christ....

Reading his rant, I can just say that we are Beholding the emerging mega church movement.....My friends, when we undervalue the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we can expect that the [visible] Church will suffer.....while Mr. Sampson was talking about things that weren't talked about....how about talking about Jesus??

Didn't read in there anything about what the Lord has done for his soul.....wonder why??

You know, I'll close with this thought....before you can truly lose your "religion", and with the absence of the Name of Jesus in any of his rant, I doubt seriously he ever had any to begin with..and this is a "worship leader"? .....but this is just my opinion...

May God bless your day!!
