Genesis 2:15–17 (AMP) — 15 And the Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to tend and guard and keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, You may freely eat of every tree of the garden; 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil and blessing and calamity you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.
many over the centuries will argue about the truth of the Bible, they will argue there is no God....they will ask questions like “why would God plant a tree and then tell man not to eat from it....why is it there at all?” I don’t claim to be a Bible scholar or even have the answers, but i would say you could make a pretty clear case that God is only proving to all the scoffers that mankind is utterly unable to save himself without the help of God think about it....”in the day you eat thereof you shall surely die” how hard is that to understand? they had everything they could possibly need or desire and that still wasn’t enough at some point this also teaches us that we can “educate” people to the dangers of drugs, etc.....we can tell them they will die if they take those things....but they take them anyway God is proving to us here that mankind is utterly incapable of salvation if left to himself
