Sermon Summary from 8-24-2025

🌟 Sermon Summary“In the Name of Jesus”
(Acts 3:1–10)
The message from Acts 3 reminds us that the power of Jesus Christ is not locked inside the walls of the church but meant to transform everyday life. When Peter and John encountered a lame man at the Temple gate, an ordinary moment turned into an extraordinary testimony of Christ’s power.
Here’s what we discover:

🔹 The Power of Prayerful Obedience
  • Peter and John went to the Temple at the ninth hour (3 PM)—a regular time of prayer.
  • God often moves through ordinary habits of faithfulness: prayer, worship, obedience.
  • What seems ordinary to us is often where God shows His power.
  • Application: Don’t overlook the simple routines of spiritual discipline. God may break in at any moment!

🔹 The Power of Spirit-Led Compassion
  • At the Beautiful Gate, a man lame from birth was daily carried to beg.
  • The gate was stunning to the eye, but beside it sat human brokenness—a picture of our condition apart from Christ.
  • Peter and John saw him, really saw him—not just as a beggar but as a soul of value.
  • True ministry begins when we see people as God sees them—valuable, redeemable, and loved.
  • Illustration: Like the Good Samaritan who stopped, compassion opens the way for God’s power.

🔹 The Power of Jesus’ Name
  • The lame man asked for coins, but Peter gave him Christ:
“Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.”
  • To act “in the Name of Jesus” is not a magic phrase. It means acting under His authority, will, and glory.
  • The healing was Christ’s work, not Peter’s power.
  • Faith is not demanding God to do what we want—it is trusting Him to do what is right (A.W. Tozer).
  • Application: In prayer, align your will with His, and His power flows through obedience.

🔹 The Power of a Changed Life
  • Immediately the man leapt up—walking, praising, rejoicing!
  • He who once sat outside the Temple now entered in, a picture of salvation:
    • Once excluded ➝ now included
    • Once broken ➝ now restored
    • Once silent ➝ now praising
  • His transformation became a public testimony—all who saw him knew it was real.
  • A changed life is the greatest witness. Programs can be debated, doctrines argued, but no one can deny the power of a life transformed by Christ.

✨ Big TakeawayThe power of Christ begins with:
  • One ordinary act of obedience
  • One moment of Spirit-led compassion
  • One step taken in the authority of Jesus’ Name
And that’s when the world takes notice.
