Psalm 55:22Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.
We don’t have any problem letting others help us with heavy loads as we go through life…..no matter how strong you are, there is a limit to your strength But what does it mean to cast thy burden upon the Lord? And what is the importance of it? I read this story and it fits this situation very well: In a village, [two monks] come across a young 17-year-old girl with a long kimono, trying to cross a very muddy road. But she’s not daring to step into the mud. So one monk picks her up, carries her across the road through the mud, puts her down. The monks walk on in silence for another four or five hours, just practicing noble silence. Then, after four or five hours, they’re getting close to their destination. One monk says to the monk who had picked up the girl, “You shouldn’t have done that because monks are supposed to not even touch women. So you really shouldn’t have picked up that girl. You’re not supposed to do that.” The other monk says, “Oh, are you still carrying that girl? I put her down hours ago.” This teaches us the importance of ridding ourselves of those burdens....you can FEEL them! Pressure that can build up and weigh on your mind and conscience....even though there isn't anything really there...I mean, it doesn't actually weigh anything......yet burdens are seriously heavy upon your soul and body and conscience.....God never aimed for us to go this life alone....cast your burdens upon Him....just let Him have them! It really is that simple....and what a peace we forfeit when we carry our burdens around SW
