Ecclesiastes 9:14 (KJV 1900) — 14 There was a little city, and few men within it; and there came a great king against it, and besieged it, and built great bulwarks against it:
I found this from Dr. J Vernon McGees notes and thought it might be worth sharing in this day we are living in: [for context he left this earth in the mid 80's so this is probably from the 70's but it's going to sound very familiar and contemporary ] Come a little closer, Mr. Marxist, and listen to this parable. Do you want to lift up the burden of the downtrodden? Do you want to defend a minority group and the cause of the underdog? Is that the thing you’re interested in? Well, may I say to you, there will arise a dictator. “A great king” will come against a people that let down their defenses and spend all their time with social problems which unsaved men cannot solve. (They’ve had probably six thousand years or longer, and they have not yet solved the problems of life. How much longer do you think God ought to give man to work these out?) “A great king” will take over such a city when socialistic methods are adopted. McGee, J. V. (1991). Thru the Bible commentary: Poetry (Ecclesiastes/Song of Solomon) (electronic ed., Vol. 21, pp. 71–72). Nashville: Thomas Nelson. the next verses here in Chapter 9 of Ecclesiastes: Ecclesiastes 9:15–18 (KJV 1900) — 15 Now there was found in it a poor wise man, and he by his wisdom delivered the city; yet no man remembered that same poor man. 16 Then said I, Wisdom is better than strength: nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, and his words are not heard. 17 The words of wise men are heard in quiet more than the cry of him that ruleth among fools. 18 Wisdom is better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good. one person can make such a difference in this world! No telling how many times God has heard the prayers of a poor widow woman when she begged Him for mercy for the shape of this country of ours. Praise Him for hearing the prayers of precious saints who may feel insignificant.....verse 18 tells us one sinner can do a lot of harm....just ask Adolf Hitlers followers.....this passage seems to tell us we are on the cusp of something very important, you and I......making decisions that could effect our entire nation! Let us choose wisely! God bless your day!

we read through verses like this and not realize the implication of them, esp verse 28 here.....we forget Christians were being killed for their faith....Paul is saying stand up to them with the truth! Don’t be afraid, don’t show fear....to your enemies that is a sign of weakness or even worse, fraudulence...... we have, to this day anyhow, not known this level of devotion and dedication when our physical lives were at stake. Perhaps that day will come, but until then, the Lord calls us to stand fast and be strong together, as a unit, as the Church! May the Lord bless you all today!
The Lord tells us to take the high road in life....in this age of vengeance and bitter vitriol it isn't always as easy as it sounds....but if we ever intend to live in some semblance of peace while we walk this earth, we must learn to "turn the other cheek".....We know there is an enemy out there who corrupts the minds and thoughts of countless people who are blind to the truth.....living in the Presence of God we can find love in our hearts no matter how evil the world around us gets.....the Bible even says here our enemies will despise us for being so kind....they want us to enter into their arena.....let them have it.....we are on the Lords side! May God bless you this fine Monday!!
