Peace, Proof and Purpose

4/28/2025

Here is the conclusion to my Sermon this past Sunday the 27th of April
✨ Conclusion: Peace, Proof, and PurposeThe Resurrection is not just a historical event --
It is an invitation to a new kind of life!
When Jesus appeared to the disciples behind locked doors, He brought three incredible gifts:

🔹 Peace
Jesus didn't remove the threat outside --
He removed the fear inside.
He offers us a peace that passes all understanding — not the absence of trouble, but calm in the midst of it.

🔹 Proof
Jesus showed them His hands and side --
undeniable evidence that He had conquered death.
His wounds are proof of His love and the price He paid for our peace.

🔹 Purpose
Jesus breathed on them and sent them out --
not in their own strength, but in the power of the Holy Spirit.
He sends us today with the same mission:
to carry the message of forgiveness and life in His Name.

John sums it all up for us:
📖 John 20:31 --
"But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God;
and that believing ye might have life through his name.
"

🎯 The Invitation Today:
  • Believe — not just in your mind, but in your heart.
  • Receive — the peace and life that only Jesus can give.
  • Go — share the good news in the power of His Spirit.

The Resurrection isn't just history.
It's an open invitation to peace, to faith, and to life — through His Name.
Will you believe?

He Is Risen...So What?

Here is the conclusion to my Easter Sermon:

Thank you for sharing your manuscript—it’s rich, passionate, and very "you"! Here's a conclusion written in your style that ties everything together, restates your main idea, and brings a clear call to response with warmth and clarity:

ConclusionSo, Jesus is Risen… So what?
It means confusion doesn’t have to be the end of your story. You may be perplexed today—maybe you walked in carrying the spices of routine, religion, or regret—but Jesus is alive, and that changes everything.
It means you don't have to keep looking for life in dead places. The angels asked, “Why seek ye the living among the dead?” And maybe the Spirit is asking you that this morning too.
  • Why are you looking for peace in people when Christ already gave you His peace?
  • Why are you searching for purpose in performance when Jesus already called you His own?
  • Why are you trying to prove yourself when He already paid it all?
And it means this--you can run to Jesus just like Peter did. Even with your guilt. Even with your failure. Even with your questions. Because Jesus left behind the grave clothes. He’s not bound by death—and you don’t have to be either.
He is Risen--so your past doesn’t define you anymore.
He is Risen--so your grief doesn’t get the last word.
He is Risen--so your future is wide open.
He is Risen--so your faith has a foundation that cannot be shaken.
And maybe you're like Peter this morning--wondering in yourself what all this means. I’m telling you: this means hope. This means Jesus is not just the Lord of the past--He’s the Living Savior of your right now.
So what will you do with this Risen Savior?
The tomb is empty.
The grave clothes are folded.
Jesus is alive.
And now—it’s your move.

The Stones Cry Out

Let's look at a portion of a Palm Sunday passage:
📖 Luke 19:39–40 — The Praise That Couldn’t Be SilencedLuke 19:39–40 (KJV)
“And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”

🔸 v. 39 — The Pharisees’ Objection“And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples.”
  • The Pharisees are disturbed by the Messianic acclaim of the crowd quoting Psalm 118:26 (“Blessed be the King that cometh in the name of the Lord”).
  • They call Jesus “Master” (teacher) — a term of respect without submission.
  • They wanted Him to shut down the praise, fearing unrest or Roman response (cf. John 11:48).
🔸 v. 40 — Jesus’ Bold Reply“And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.”
  • Jesus affirms that their praise is right and even necessary.
  • The phrase “the stones would cry out” is powerful poetic imagery:
    • Creation itself would break the silence to proclaim the truth of the Messiah.
    • It’s a rebuke: If people won’t praise, inanimate creation will.

🔁 Cross-References to the Stones Crying Out📌 1. Habakkuk 2:11“For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.”
  • In this prophecy, stones bear witness against injustice.
  • Jesus may be subtly echoing this prophetic tone — implying judgment is coming for those who silence truth.
📌 2. Psalm 19:1–3“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork... There is no speech nor language, where their voice is not heard.”
  • All creation praises God without words.
  • Even if people are silent, the created world continues the testimony of its Creator.
📌 3. Romans 8:19–22“For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God… the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.”
  • Creation longs for the redemption Jesus came to bring.
  • The “stones crying out” fits this cosmic longing for the Kingdom.
📌 4. Joshua 24:27“Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us.”
  • Joshua sets up a stone as a witness to the covenant—a visible, symbolic testimony.
  • Stones were often used in Scripture to mark spiritual moments—Jesus is saying this moment is one of them.

🧠 Theological ImplicationJesus is saying that truth cannot be suppressed--worship will happen, either from hearts or from stones. In other words:
“You can silence the mouths of men, but you can’t silence the majesty of God.”

🖼️ IllustrationImagine a courtroom where everyone is afraid to speak the truth—but suddenly the walls themselves speak, the ceiling shakes, and the floor cries out, “This man is innocent!” That’s the power of Jesus’ words.
Here’s a true story:
In 1937, Stalin closed hundreds of churches in Russia. But underground, believers still gathered. They said, “If we cannot sing out loud, we will hum. If we cannot hum, we will smile the song in our hearts. But we will worship.”
—Jesus said, “If these are silent, the stones will sing.” The worship of Christ cannot be stopped.

✨ Application for Us
  • Are we silent when we should be praising?
  • Do we let fear or pressure from others (like the Pharisees) mute our witness?
  • Jesus implies that we have a responsibility to proclaim His kingship. If not, God will find another way—even through creation.
🔔 Let’s not be outdone by rocks!

The Bamboo Tree

🌿 The Chinese Bamboo Tree and the Kingdom of GodA Reflection on Mark 4:26–29Mark 4:26–29 (KJV)
“And he said, So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed into the ground;
And should sleep, and rise night and day, and the seed should spring and grow up, he knoweth not how.
For the earth bringeth forth fruit of herself; first the blade, then the ear, after that the full corn in the ear.
But when the fruit is brought forth, immediately he putteth in the sickle, because the harvest is come.”

Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to a seed sown in the ground—unseen at first, yet silently and steadily growing until it bursts into a full harvest. The farmer doesn’t fully understand how this happens, but he faithfully plants and waits.
This picture is beautifully reflected in the story of the Chinese bamboo tree.

🌱 The Story of the Bamboo TreeWhen a Chinese bamboo tree is planted, it requires daily watering, attention, and care. But in the first year, there’s no visible growth. The second year--still nothing. The third year--nothing. The fourth year--nothing.
But in the fifth year, something incredible happens:
In a span of just a few weeks, the bamboo suddenly grows up to 80–90 feet tall!
What was happening during those silent years?
The bamboo wasn’t being still—it was growing roots. It was developing a strong underground foundation that could support the massive height and strength it would soon display.

⛪️ Lessons for the Church and God's PeopleJust like the farmer in Mark 4 and the bamboo tree in China, the Church’s growth may not always be visible, but that doesn’t mean nothing is happening. Sometimes God works in quiet seasons, building deep roots before revealing the fruit.
Many churches, ministries, and believers may labor for years without seeing the "harvest." But in God's timing, when the heart is prepared and the ground is right, growth comes suddenly and powerfully.

🔑 Takeaway Truths:
  • Faithfulness over time matters. Keep watering, even when you see no fruit.
  • God’s work is often underground. Don’t despise small beginnings or silent seasons.
  • Harvest comes in God's timing. He knows when the growth is ready to reveal.
  • Church growth is not always numerical at first. Sometimes it’s spiritual depth, unity, character, and dependence on God.
